I can add in my own personal calendars (mine, my wife's, etc) and stagger my projects in and around them. I also like that I can time block into the future to make sure that I have enough bandwidth to work on all the projects I commit to. e) did I mention it is free and doesn't require installing some other app to bog down your edit system. c) I can track intangible project time (ie, time spent working on the project, but not necessarily with any specific app open) d) I can share an xls report with clients if they want a breakdown.

The advantage of using Google Calendar for me is a) it's available on any device where I have internet, so if I'm working on-site somewhere at minimum I can update it via my phone and not rely on an app being installed on a computer. Then I translate that to my invoicing service. When I finish that project for the day or switch to something else, I update the end time.įor billing purposes, I use GTimeReport to generate a list of the projects that I worked on by client, complete with end times, total duration per project, summary etc. When I start working on a project, I make an entry on the calendar.
